Artistic Director

Ahmed El Attar is the Artistic Director of D-CAF, a playwright, theatre director and cultural manager. He is the founder and director of Orient Productions, Studio Emad Eddin Foundation and the Temple Independent Theatre Company. His plays have toured the world and been seen at important festivals such as the Avignon International Theatre Festival, Festival D’Automne, Berlin Festespiele and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, amongst others. In 2010,

Life is Beautiful or Waiting for My Uncle From America was awarded the Best Theatre Text prize from the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development. In 2018, Ahmed El Attar was made a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture in acknowledgement of his important contribution to theatre.


Music Designer

Hassan Khan is an artist, musician and writer. He lives and works in Cairo, Egypt.


Set Designer

Hussein Baydoun is a production designer and scenographer based in Beirut.

His work is mostly characterized by an architectural approach, He often uses raw and rough materials such the metal, the concrete, the fiber… that gives his work its industrial aspect.

Hussein has collaborated with many artists in theater such as Issam Bou Khaled, Ahmed El Attar and Sawsan Bou Khaled.

In cinema, he worked with Rashid Masharawi, Abbas Fadhel, Ghassan Salhab, Mai Masri, Robert Guédiguian, Elia Suleiman… He is the production designer of The Insult by Ziad Doueiri nominated in 2018 for the best foreign-language film in the Oscars, and Capharnaüm, Nadine Labaki’s latest film winner of the critic price at the 2018 Cannes festival.

His work has been shown at numerous festivals most notably Cannes festival, Venice film festival, Berlin Festeshpile, Picolo theatro di Milano, the Theatrical Days of Carthage, Europa festival in Lisbon, Das der Welt in Berlin, Avignon festival, World Theatre Festival Shizuoka in Japan…


Light Designer

Charlie is one of Sweden’s most extinguished light designers with more than 30 years of experience working in professional stage art. He is also working as a set designer and directing his own visual and motion-based performances.

Charlie Åström has a Master’s degree from Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts and is the artistic leader of Studio Oscuro, an independent stage art company working in Sweden and internationally.



Henri jules Julien is an independent director/author/producer, working from/in the Middle East North Africa region.
He recently wrote and directed De la justice des poissons (with Nanda Mohammad, David Chiesa and Christophe Cardoen) and is preparing a new piece, Mahmoud & Nini (with Mahmoud Haddad and Virginie Gabriel).
